Random Pocket Shots (Случайные фотографии телефоном в кармане)
I developed the concept for this project in early 2020, when I accidentally captured my first shot in my pocket. I was wearing a yellow jacket, and my phone’s camera randomly photographed the space from the inside. Gradually, I began collecting these images, inspired by Hiroshi Sugimoto’s Optics series and Dimitrii Bogachuk’s СIEL series.
What I love about this process is that the camera works without my intervention—I don’t interfere in any way or impose my human ideas about photography. From nearly a hundred photographs, I’ve selected the ten best, in my opinion. I’m not sure if my phone would have chosen the same images. I try to interfere as little as possible, acting only as an assistant. That’s why I didn’t arrange these photos according to the color wheel; I don’t think my phone would care about the same color harmony.
There is also no post-processing. All the work is presented exactly as the Huawei P Smart+ sees it. I believe this is pure contemporary digital art.
