Memories/ Abkhazia. Sergey Kior

MEMORIES/ ABKHAZIA

The war in Abkhazia (1992–1993) left thousands dead and displaced over 200,000 people from their homes. In 2016, I traveled to this fractured land, where beauty and devastation exist side by side. These digital drawings are my attempt to capture the duality of Abkhazia — its haunting landscapes, resilient spirit, and the scars of conflict that linger in its soil. Through this series, I explore memory, loss, and the fragile interplay between human history and the natural world. Each piece is a meditation on what remains: the echoes of a past that refuses to be forgotten.
